I personally meet with clients, determine their circumstances, needs and objectives, and make estate plan recommendations for them. There is no charge for the initial estate planning conference. At the conclusion of the initial conference I will make estate plan recommendations to the client, and will quote a flat fee, including costs, to the client for preparing their estate plan. If the client does not accept my recommendations and fees, they have no further obligation. A typical estate plan includes a revocable or living trust, a certification of trust (essentially an abstract of the trust), pour-over wills, durable powers of attorney for financial matters, advance health care directives, and a quitclaim deed to transfer the clients’ residence into the trust. The client is given a preliminary draft of each estate plan document to review. I then answer any questions the clients may have and make any necessary changes to the drafts before the final documents are prepared for signature. The entire final estate plan is presented to the client in an indexed 3-ring binder.
